The global database combines information from user communities and other sources, including news feeds and field surveys, to deliver outstanding quality and accuracy in reported speed limit enforcement.
Sygic, the global navigation vendor trusted by more than 200 million drivers worldwide, has launched a new premium Mobile Speed Cam add-on to supplement its flagship GPS mobile application.
This latest feature allows drivers to avoid unnecessary fines, and at the same time contributes to the reduction of accidents in danger and high-risk zones by encouraging drivers to moderate their speed.
“We believe that speed cam reporting can be done better than by continuously distracting drivers while they should be completely focused on the road in front of them,” said Sygic’s Head of Product, Lukas Dermek.
“That’s why the new add-on for Sygic GPS Navigation relies not only on user input but also several others, including third parties, government research, news feeds and field surveys,” added Dermek.
According to the 2010 Cochrane Review of speed cameras for the prevention of road traffic injuries and deaths, 28 studies “found a lower number of crashes in the speed camera areas after implementation of the program.”
Speed limit enforcement was behind a decrease in all crashes of up to 49%. At the same time, the number of fatalities went as down by as much as 58%.
The Mobile Speed Cam add-on is available in Sygic GPS Navigation for iOS and Android.
