Mass Storage Mode or either known as Data Transfer Method is specific mode where your device's internal memory is mapped as separate drive letter on your computer system.

Please note, that Microsoft ActiveSync connection and Nokia PC Suite connection are both opposite to Mass Storage Mode. These types of connection are not supported by DVD installer or Sygic Assistant tool.
